In this regard, the interest of international sports organizations to cooperate with Turkmenistan is increasing year by year.

The 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in September 2017 in the country, the Amul-Hazar International Auto Racing Competition in 2018, and the Caspian lakes in the Avaza National Tourist Zone from October 2-7, 2018 School Culture and Sports Festival, World Weightlifting Championships in November 2018, International Group Tennis Tournament among Central Asian Under-12 Juniors on June 3-6, 2019 at the Ashgabat Multipurpose Stadium.

On the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan, the relevant Resolution was adopted at the 82nd session of the 72nd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations and declared June 3 as World Cycling Day.

With the adoption of this Resolution, the efforts of the President of the United Nations for the development of the physical education, health and sports movement were recognized and highly commended. This is a clear evidence of the triumph of the ecological outlook in society as one of the foundations of sustainable development at the national and global level.

David Lappartian also presented the International Cyclists' Union Certificate in 2021 with the right to host the World Cycling Track Championships in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

The 2nd Certificate of Inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records was awarded to the Water Sports Complex. It is the largest indoor pool in the world, built on “green” construction based on environmentally friendly materials and modern technologies.
