Banking system of Turkmenistan
The banking system of Turkmenistan is a bipartite system that includes the Central bank of Turkmenistan and the commercial banks. The Central Bank of Turkmenistan is the national bank of Turkmenistan operating in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan “On Central Bank of Turkmenistan” and other regulatory legal acts.
The national currency Manat is the only legal exchange on the territory of Turkmenistan.
The Central Bank of Turkmenistan actively cooperates with major international financial organizations, such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Islamic Development Bank and the Asian Development bank.
On the territory of Turkmenistan, there are “Altyn Asyr” and “Milli kart” bank cards, as well as digital bank products such as “Internet banking,” “Mobile banking,” “Contactless payment” providing the possibility of performing non-cash payments. In addition, the international money transfer systems “Western Union” and “Money Gram” operate within the country.
