International Conference «Policy of Neutrality and its importance in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development»


A webinar dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan was held in Pakistan

On August 5, 2020, a webinar dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan entitled “Neutrality of Turkmenistan – the mechanism of socio-economic prosperity and interregional cooperation” was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Center for Global and Strategic Studies of Pakistan.

   The webinar was attended by Turkmen diplomats, the Chairman of Center for Global and Strategic Studies of Pakistan Khalid Amir Jaffery, researchers of this center, geopolitician for Turkmenistan and the CIS countries Mehmood Ul-Hassan Khan, Director of the Center for Regional Research at Peshawar University Shabbir Ahmed, representatives of analytical centers, media, as well as heads and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in this country.

Speakers during the online meeting emphasized that Turkmenistan, taking an active part in international relations over the years of permanent Neutrality, has established itself as a center of reconciliation. Acting as an effective and reliable instrument of diplomacy, the positive Neutrality of Turkmenistan occupies a special place in strengthening peace, security and sustainable development on an international scale.

They also spoke in detail about the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan, which will be held under the leadership of the esteemed President in 2020, which has been declared in our country as the year “Turkmenistan – Home of Neutrality”.

During the meeting, it was also noted that Turkmenistan occupies a convenient position in the center of the Great Silk Road, which creates effective opportunities for the socio-economic development of the region and the strengthening regional cooperation through the implementation of joint projects, such as the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, line power transmission and fiber-optic lines of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan communication system, aimed at increasing the role of transport and transit corridors.
