A solemn event dedicated to the Day of Poetry of Makhtumkuli-Fraghi was held in Tashkent

On June 22, 2021, on the occasion of the Day of Poetry of Makhtumkuli-Fraghi, the Turkmen National Cultural Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a flower-laying ceremony at the poet's monument on Makhtumkuli Street in Tashkent and a meeting on the theme "Symbol of friendship between the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples in the works of Makhtumkuli”.

The event was attended by the representatives of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and External Friendship Relations under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, members of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent City Turkmen National Cultural Center, the Turkmen diaspora and the media.

During the event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Y. Mammedov said that in accordance with the Decree signed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fraghi will be solemnly celebrated in 2024 and congratulated the participants of the ceremony on the occasion of the Day of Poetry of Makhtumkuli.

Speaking at the ceremony, officials of the Republic of Uzbekistan and representatives of the Tashkent City Turkmen National Cultural Center said that the poetic world of Makhtumkuli-Fraghi is highly respected not only by the Turkmen people, but also by other peoples of the world.

During the solemn meeting, an artistic reading of poems by Makhtumkuli-Fraghi, as well as a concert of masters of culture and art took place.

Within the framework of the event, an exhibition was organized at the stands of which exquisite Turkmen carpets, various rugs, national decorations, national costumes, musical instruments and works of applied art, which are an integral part of the culture of the Turkmen people, were displayed.
