The international сonferenсe dediсated to the 20th anniversary of Neutrality was held in Turkmenistan
December 12, 1995-is one of the most important dates in the life of turkmen people.With the adoption of historical resolution by the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization 25 years ago, Turkmenistan gained the legal status of Permanent Neutrality. Various events of international level were organized in honor of Turkmen Neutrality in our country and foreign countries.
On December 12, 2015 the Turkmen capital hosted the International Conference "The Policy of Neutrality: International Cooperation for Peace, Security and Development", which brought together heads of states and governments of various countries, representatives of the world's political elite, influential international and regional organizations, the diplomatic community. The forum was also attended by the leaders of the ministries and departments of the country, heads of diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan accredited abroad.
An initiative of the President of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to convene an international forum in Ashgabat dedicated to the policy of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan, has aroused international attention, the active interest and support in the world community.
During the conference President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a solemn speech.Addressing the forum, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov warmly welcomed all the participants and expressed his deep appreciation for accepting the invitation to participate in this Conference and with the Turkmen people mark the historic date - the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.
"With good reason considering such a broad and representative participation as a sign of respect for Turkmenistan, the communality of our thoughts and aspirations aimed at strengthening international cooperation for peace, security and development, - said the head of the Turkmen state. - We are glad to see you all in Ashgabat, and on behalf of the people of our country I say to you - welcome to Turkmenistan! ".

Summing up all the speeches, the President appealed to all participants, expressed his gratitude for active, meaningful performances, showing that the neutrality of Turkmenistan and foreign policy today attract the attention of wider international community.
In the speeches of the public figures, prominent political scientists and analysts it was given an objective and comprehensive assessment of the multifaceted impact of Turkmen neutrality in the global integration processes, with a vision of new approaches to address common challenges in the light of Turkmenistan's peacemaking initiatives.
As was noted in the summarizing stage the opening ceremony of the conference, the appearance in the international relations of the universal tool to solve the acute problems contributed to the formation of new conceptual foundations of the world order, more sophisticated approaches to solving the urgent problems facing humanity at the beginning of the third millennium.
Within the framework of the International Conference "The policy of neutrality: international cooperation for peace, security and development" there were also signed bilateral agreements on cooperation of Turkmenistan with a number of countries.
In particular, the package of the Turkmen-Palestinian documents entered Protocol on political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, a Memorandum of cooperation between the Institute of International Relations of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Palestine, intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in science and cooperation in the field of sports and youth and an agreement on cooperation in agriculture between the relevant ministries.
They also signed an Agreement on cooperation between the Turkmen parliament and the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Protocol on Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic; Memorandum of Understanding between the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan and shipbuilding company «Ulyanik dd» (Croatia); Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Finland for the avoidance of double taxation with respect to taxes on income; Agreement on international road transport between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Latvia.
In addition, an Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and Agreement on mutual financing between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Population Fund of the United Nations were signed.
A protocol on establishing diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Burundi, and the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Estonia on exemption of owners of diplomatic passports from visa requirements had been signed.
