Issues of developing cooperation between the regions of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan were discussed

On May 19, 2021, an online meeting was held between the akim of the Mangistau region of the Republic of Kazakhstan S. Trumov and the khyakim of the Balkan velayat of Turkmenistan T. Atahallyev.

The purpose of the meeting was to expand the framework of cooperation and deepen interaction, as well as the signing of the Action Plan for Cooperation of Border Regions for 2021-2025.

During the meeting, issues were discussed on the creation of a border free economic zone, the opening of trading houses in order to develop bilateral trade relations, the creation of joint ventures and the implementation of investment projects on the territory of the two countries.

The issues of creation and modernization of the Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan border highway were put forward for discussion, which will increase the international transport cargo flow and the volume of trade between the two countries.

The Turkmen side also expressed interest in cooperation with the Mangistau region in the agricultural sector, in the field of fisheries and tourism.

At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the two border regions thanked each other for the meeting and signed documents on cooperation for 2021-2025.
